My Story

My journey has never followed a straight path.

Long before becoming a physician, I learned the importance of resilience, perseverance, and believing in possibilities beyond my circumstances. Those lessons would later shape not only my career in medicine but also my passion for helping others navigate difficult decisions and challenging transitions.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Michigan, followed by a Master of Arts in Sociology from Eastern Michigan University. I later completed my Doctor of Medicine degree at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and earned a Master of Business Administration from Fort Hays University.  This combination of education allowed me to incorporate my interests in healthcare, leadership, and organizational development to employ the skills I have to work with individuals, patients, professionals and organizations.

As a board-certified OB/GYN and Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), I have spent years caring for women and families while witnessing both the rewards and challenges of modern healthcare. My experiences have reinforced my belief that education, advocacy, and honest communication are among the most powerful tools we possess.

Beyond clinical medicine, I am passionate about helping people recognize their value and make informed decisions that align with their goals and well-being. Whether discussing women's health, workplace culture, leadership, physician wellness, career transitions, or personal growth, my mission remains the same: to provide practical insight, honest perspectives, and encouragement for those navigating life's most important decisions.

This commitment inspired me to become an author and podcast host. Through my books, including Knowing When to Quit and How to Do It With Dignity, and through my podcast, Informed & Unfiltered, I explore the realities of medicine, leadership, workplace challenges, and personal transformation. My goal is to create conversations that educate, empower, and remind people that they are never as trapped as they may believe.

Above all, I am a wife to my high school sweetheart and life partner, mother of eight, physician, and lifelong learner who believes that every challenge contains an opportunity for growth, purpose, and renewal.
